Monday Moodboard 'Pancake Week or Maslenitsa'

Hello everyone! It has started! Pancake Week or Maslenitsa! Maslenitsa is a popular Russian carnival that celebrates the end of winter and beginning of spring. The whole week people will cook pancakes and visit each other. Each day of Maslenitsa has its traditional activity: one day for sleigh-riding, another for the sons-in-law to visit their parents-in-law, another day for visiting the godparents, etc. As the culmination of the celebration, on Sunday evening, Lady Maslenitsa is stripped of her finery and put to the flames of a bonfire. Any remaining blintzes (Russian pancakes) are also thrown on the fire, and Lady Maslenitsa's ashes are buried in the snow (to "fertilize the crops"). The last day of Maslenitsa is called "Forgiveness Sunday", indicating the desire for God's forgiveness that lies at the heart of Great Lent. At Vespers on Sunday evening, all the people make a poklon (prostration) before one another and ask forgiveness, and thus Great Lent begins in the spirit of reconciliation and Christian love.

Personal experience 'Eye & Lip Correction Serum by Botanics'

I started to buy Botanics cosmetics few years ago and I like the quality and prices. But this product really knocked me out! I got this serum in a middle of January and use every morning and evening. They say - "This formula is designed to reduce the apperance of wrinkles around eyes and lips in 4 weeks'. Honestly I haven't paid too much attention to this phrase BUT I've noticed the difference today! Less wrinkless than I had before around my eyes! It really works!!!! and it cost only 9.18 pounds. So I highly recommend Botanics Eye & Lip Correction Serum

Monday Moodboard 'Recycled jeans bags'

Everyone has an old jeans that you can't wear anymore and there is always a dilemma - What to do with them? You can just throw them out or you can make something new - a recycled bag! My bag is still in process so I can't show it right now but I'm happy to show some recycled jeans bags and probably they will inspire you to create your own bag from your old jeans!

My creative workspace 'Nunofelting'

This Tuesday I went to a master class that was organized by Katerina Markus and now I know how to felt small natural wool vases. You can see the one I've made due the master class. And also she showed me the nunofelting technique. I was pretty excited about it and today made one more scarf in this technique - you can see the process on the pics. Unfortunatelly can't show the finished scarf as it's still getting dry. ))

Meatloaf or American style

Why American style? I think it looks such an American as you use ketchup and Tabasco.

  • Meatloaf:
  • 1 cup Whole Milk
  • 6 slices White Bread
  • 2 pounds Ground Beef
  • 1 cup (heaping) Freshly Grated Parmesan Cheese
  • ¼ teaspoons Seasoned Salt
  • ¾ teaspoons Salt
  • Freshly Ground Black Pepper
  • ⅓ cups Minced Flat-leaf Parsley
  • 4 whole Eggs Beaten
  • 1 big Onion
  • 10 slices Thin/regular Bacon

  • Sauce:
  • 1-½ cup Ketchup
  • ⅓ cups Brown Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Dry Mustard
  • Tabasco To Taste
Preheat oven to 250-280 degrees. Pour milk over the bread slices. Allow it to soak in for several minutes.
Place the ground beef, milk-soaked bread, Parmesan (if you don't have Parmesan you can use any cheese you have in your fridge), chopped oinion, seasoned salt, salt, black pepper, and chopped parsley in a large mixing bowl. Pour in beaten eggs.

Mix the ingredients until well combined. Form the mixture into a loaf shape on a broiler pan, which will allow the fat to drain.

Lay bacon slices over the top, tucking them underneath the meatloaf.

Make the sauce: add ketchup, brown sugar, mustard, and hot sauce in a mixing bowl. Stir together. Pour 1/3 of the mixture over the top of the bacon. Spread with a spoon.
Bake for 45 minutes, then pour another 1/3 of the sauce over the top. Bake for another 15 minutes. Slice and serve with remaining sauce.
